Legit.
Try telling someone who desperately wants to get to the other side of the street something as easy as…
“Hey – just put one foot in front of the other, and you’ll walk yourself from one side of the street to the other side. (And guess what – there’s endless tiramisu over there!)
And you’ll STILL get millions of excuses.
“Oh, you know, I need to do some research first on this walking thing, but I’ll def hit you back one day.”
“Wait, but what if the road is wet? Can you send me a weather forecast first?”
“Sorry, but the shoes I’m wearing aren’t exactly perfect for fresh pavement and if my research proves to be correct, this road is indeed made of fresh pavement. That’s seriously my only problem, though!”
“Yeah I was going to wait until I finish up this biology degree. I’ll be more prepared at that point. The mechanics of the thing seem like they would be a challenge without a degree!”
And this goes on forever and ever…
Folks come to me very often like if I have answers to any of these excuses. Or as if I even have the inclination to find any answers to these excuses.
My answer and the only answer I ever have is simple: Take the first step.
That’s it.
That’s all I got.
No motivational videos, testimonials, or anything like that. The only solution I know for getting from where I am currently to a place I’d rather be is to TAKE ACTION. Craziest idea ever, I know.
That first step.
And I find that the first step can be like walking up an unlit stairwell. You can’t see the second step yet, but after you take the first step, you’re like “Ah, the second step is right there!”
Then on the second step, the third step becomes visible!
And before you know it, you’re on the next floor.
Or, you know, something like that.
Action. I got nothing else for you.
